happy thanksgiving

today i lay relaxing on a plump leather brown couch, watching a movie with john. we're in wichita for the holiday weekend, visiting family friends of ours. so far, this visit has brought everything we hoped it would. good food, good conversation, lots of laughs, and feeling so comfortable that it seems like home. since we couldn't make it home to wisconsin for the holiday, this was the next best thing. we have spent the last several thanksgivings with the same family, so even though we moved it seemed only fitting that we come back to celebrate with them again. and, somehow, even though we moved, coming back has been even better than when we lived here. we are staying at their house this time around, which allows us to spend even more time with them and get to know them even better. they are out for a family picture now, and the process that came with getting ready was all too familiar. picking a color scheme in order to coordinate the outfits, lots of running around and yelling, and dad ready a half an hour early...waiting patiently on everyone else. :) ahhh...good times.

i'm suffering from a little bit of dog guilt this weekend...we boarded the dogs at Camp Bow Wow when we left. i hate leaving my dogs! they're like our kids...everything they do is so cute and adorable...well, not everything...but most things! however, to cheer us up we checked out the livecam they have, and it worked. right there in front of us were sam & maddie jumping and playing with a crowd of other pups, looking so happy. it was difficult to tell maddie from the other dogs as there were a lot of black labs in the vicinity, but we know they're kept together. this immediately cheered me up and made me feel better about boarding them!

i hope everyone is full of turkey and stuffing and all the thanksgiving day fixins...but most of all with the people they love!
